2nd Generation Problem with power steering...

Hello, I have a 1990 3sfe/automatic transmission with ~65,000 miles on it. After starting the car, while it is still in park, I turn the wheel to the left extreme and the right extreme. When the steering wheel can no longer turn(it has reached it maximum turning ability) I feel a vibration accompanied by a squealing and/or screeching high pitched sound. Lately, the power steering has been acting tricky while driving as well. Most of the parts, if not all, are probably original(cv joints, axles, power steering...) The only front end/steering pieces that I have been replaced are brakes and struts.
I guessing that it is a power steering issue. It looks like the fluid has never been changed and I 'm not sure how to change it.(The car is 17 years old!)

As always any advice, or opinions are appreciated...
Thanks in advance
Nicholas

What condition is the power steering belt in? And how tight is it?

The belt is very old and probably not too tight. I'll take a closer look at that tomorrow.
Thanks, any other suggestions?

Nope, no other suggestions, because it is your belt...lol.

When you go all the way over your power steering pump is working its hardest, therefore putting the most stress on the pulley, which causes the belt to burn out because it's worn. We drove our Corolla for about 5k miles with that issue before I got around to changing the belt. No biggie, and Autozone will give you the right sized belt if you tell them what you need.
