Manual Transmission Leaking?

Hi,
Ive just replaced my CV shaft say 3 days ago, and while I was under there I noticed that there appears to be a leak coming from the drivers side of the transmission. Looking closer seems to be coming from where the driveshaft enters the transmission, is there a seal or something that may need replacing?

I'm thinking of just dumping all the ATF, and putting in gear oil hoping that will fix the leak.

Any suggestions as to what it could be?

It is just a damaged seal... pop the axle back out, replace the seal and put the axle back. Next time, be more careful when you replace the axle.

Stick with ATF if it's a four cylinder. Gear oil is only for the V6 manual trannys, might be waaaay too viscous for your rig.

Thing is I only replaced half the CV Shaft, I didn't even take anything out of the transmission. So how can the seal be accessed? Just pop the shaft out and where and how would I get to it?

Toyota sent out a TSB in 1991 to change from ATF to gear oil, so it should be fine.

Two large screwdrivers work even better. I like being able to pry back-and-forth between the two drivers, you don't have to use as much force to pop the snap-ring out.

Will the seal come out once I've popped the shaft out? What do I ask for when I goto the auto place to get a new one? I'm not all to keen to pop everything out until I have a new on in hand lol
