Why yes there is. Under the hood, by the driver's side strut, you'll see a little plastic box with DIAGNOSTIC on it. Open 'er up and bridge the E1 and T terminals with a paper clip. Turn the key to 'on' and the check engine light will flash like morse code. Look in the Haynes or Chilton's manual and they'll tell you what the problem is.
