USA Low Rumble! Help!

Hello. I have a 1984 Camry that I love. Lately, however, it has been making an odd very deep "grinding" sound. It usually starts about about 35 mph and gets even worse when turning right and when it is cold outside. I know its not coming from the motor itself so I am thinking that it could be either the transmission or something to do with the wheel bearings. Any help would be great here. Thanks!

Stupid question for you: could it be the speedometer assembly? Lately we've been having rediculously cold weather here (in Amerispeak it would be around -8 Farenheit) and the speedometers on three of my four cars are all making a whirring/grinding sound from the cold. Once the car warms up a bit more the sound dies--until I hit a bump, and it starts again. Not to insult your intelligence, but could that be it?

Oh no insult taken at all- I tried that driving to work this morning and the sound is diffidently coming the front right wheel area, so I am pretty sure its not the speedometer assembly. Thanks for the idea though.

Okay, then...could it be the wheel bearing? If you had a catastrophic failure (like if the o-ring degraded and water got in there, rusting the ball bearings) then it might make a grinding sound. Does the wheel pull to one side at all?

Ya it does pull off to the left a bit. What does it take to fix a broken wheel bearing? Is it pretty pricey?

def the wheel bearing!!!!! I have a88 doing the same thing! It will get worse overtime trust me...It like a whomping sound almost like your driving over the bumps in the emergency lane or you have a blister on the tire.....Good advice replace the whole wheel hub assembly! Little more exspensive, but a lot easier and safer! Also replace the half axle-cv if it needs it since you will already be there! I have drove min elike that for a while now(6 months) I need to get it fixed, but I have 2 new cars so I'm not in a rush , but it can be dangerous and not advised!
