I just bought an 88 camry alltrac, 5spd, with 180k. there aren't much of these around...i see most of them in the junkyard not on the road, so i was lucky to get my hands on one of these rarity.
sv25 are alltracs.. sv22 are vistas in japan. may be like 3 active members i guess
VIN has SV22 on my Alltrac... but the chassis code is SV25. While my 90.5 US built Camry has a VIN that starts with SV24, but it is an SV21. Dunno why.
My Alltrac is in great shape - 94k-ish miles by now. Perfect interior, very nice exterior. It will be a fun project!

Don't bother trying to figure out the VIN's without some kind of a Rosetta Stone...they almost never seem to correspond properly with the chassis production codes Toyota gave them. My AE92 sedan, for example, says "AE94" on the VIN.

yah my owernership say SV22...but the chassi code is SV25, kinda weird man. my alltrac is japan built. It needs body work (canadian winter) other than that interior is mint, pwr everything, only thing no ABS. I paln to restore it slowly. Hey Charlie i see u doing research with interchageable parts from ST165/185/205 etc.. that is cool, i wish my alltarc had no rust

ABS is very rare on the gen2 Camry. I'm not even sure it was available with the Alltrac.
I already have most of the important parts from an ST205 (motor, transmission, rear subframe, diff and suspension arms) to swap into my Alltrac. The motor and 2WD version of the ST205 transmission are already running in my other Camry that will all be moved to the Alltrac.
Rust is the one thing I don't think I could deal with. I'm happy I live in California (no salt!). My Alltrac was originally from another state (no CA emissions), but has no body rust and only very minor surface rust on some suspension parts. What's funny is that my other Camry with 322k miles on it has no rust under it at all. That's what living in the desert does for you...

haha i want to move to the desert now......man u pretty much have all the parts to build a GTFOUR CAMRY. Did you get the subframe, suspension arms, diff when you bought your half cut ? ST205 Clips are hard to get here.
I need a manual tranny for my alltrac, no 1st gear. Are u gonna try the coilovers from celica alltrac? if u do let me know how it goes..in the future i may go that route. i have pwr everything in the 88 alltrac and my 90 i have nuttin, not even ac
Don't forget what I mentioned last month about the transmission: check www.car-part.com and call the wrecker (BodyLine Auto Recyclers) in Hamilton. They only want $260 for one...
As for ABS, I believe the All-Trac did come with it, only in LE models if memory serves... If you get 15" rims and good tires with a wide tread patch for the car, you shouldn't need ABS. It doesn't work worth a sh!t in snow or on ice, anyhow. Most people get into more trouble with ABS because they don't understand how it works... sorry, didn't mean to rant.

i didn't forget, i will call the about the tranny, thanx.......as for abs i have an LE model.. . i know what u meant, abs i good only if u know how to use it. i sm thinking of using V6 rear rotors in the rear and in the front, it would give a bit more braking surface. I have the parts needed to that.

Front brakes are the same for 4 cylinder, V6 and Alltrac models. Only difference is ABS vs. non-ABS models. Alltrac rears are the same or larger than the V6 rears. Just get good pads. I will be investigating stainless braided lines in the near future to see what fits. Probably ST165 or ST185 ones... I'll know more in the coming months.

PS. Technafit already makes DOT stainless lines for the regular 4-cylinder and V6 gen2 Camry. Cheaper than stock replacements!

well charlie... you can bring your hoses to technafit and they'll make them while you wait. takes like 30mins... only bad thing is they make 1 long hose instead of 2 short ones like OEM.. but same thing... they can also make stainless clutch lines for 25$ each...

That's good news... I will need a front brake lines that are about 1" longer (probably) for the ST205 front brakes. We'll see how the brackets turn out for them.
