Hi, Are there any special tools needed for changing the timing belt and water pump?

No special tools but getting the crank pulley bolt off/on can be a problem if you are not setup for it. There have been a few posts on this subject suggest doing a TN search. The link below provides service manual info.

Impact wrench ( capable of torque 200lb-ft) to loosen the crank pulley bolt,
Bar style puller with two bolts M6 (class 10.9 strenght)

Crank pully bolt not a problem. Just put a socket and breaker bar on it, stick the breaker bar in the suspension pieces and bump the starter. Been doing it for years and works like a charm. That bang you here wont hurt anything.

If impact won't loosen bolt...use breaker bar method....use impact to re-tighten when finished

I would change the water pump while you are at it....which means you have to remove the motor mount mount....which can be troublesome

I placed a jack under the tranny and loosened the lower and front motor mounts and trannny mounts....then lifted engine till I could remove it

If you don't loosen the mounts...good chance they will be damaged

I would also change cam and crank seals

Some others may have some input on this....but thats my 2 cents
