Australia compressor broken

hi my compressor broke so i need to either take it out or take the pully wheel off it so i can bypass it in the alternator belt circuit. can anyone tell me the best way to take the wheel off mines pretty stuck on. ive got the bolt off but the next bit won't budge. read my story for more details:

I bought my camry 2 years ago. i thought it was just old cos the aircon was taking alot of power from the engine and decided to let it be. until it had to survive it's second winter without using the air con. When summer came round i used the aircon for the first time in ages and it would only last 10 minutes then start flashing and stop cooling. i thought nothing of it and just stopped using the aircon for a but until one particularly hot day when i turned it on to see if it would work and it did for a few kms then it stopped again and i reached my destination and stopped the car and went into the house. when i came out after the meeting i hopped into my car and tried to turn it on and much to my dismay and great frustration and embarrassment (my girlfriend was in the car) it didn't start. i thought it was just a dead battery but when racq arrived they tried to jump it but to no avail. so they tried 2 batteries and it started but soon after it started smoking and then conked out. the air compressor had siezed up and would no longer allow the belt circuit that it was on go and so i had to get towed home. how sad. my quick solution was to take the compressor out (as a new one would cost 1000 bucks or more according to any quotes i got) and use a smaller belt and bypass the compressor. only problem is i can't remove the compressor completely cos current cfc laws make that impossible without propper degassing. my next solution is to take the wheel off the compressor (because that is in the way of the new belt). but i can't figure out how to take that wheel off because it's either stuck on from when it siezed or its got some other more complicated thing on it. anyone have any ideas how to take it off?

moral of the story get your aircon serviced before it breaks!!!!

thanks for your patience

work around it. to remove the pulley: unbolt and remove the compressor while leaving the hoses attached. Wiggle and manipulate the thing until you can get a puller in there onto the pulley. you need a three jawed puller tool of the appropriate size to yank the pulley off. Harborfreight.com.
Before doing that, examine the pulley carefully to see what secures it on the shaft - maybe a set screw or maybe it is just a press fit. Then have at it.

hint - if and when you get your air fixed - to keep your A/C compressor healthy you MUST (toyota says) run the a/c AT LEAST 20 seconds, every two weeks!!!! The reason is, that to keep the seals and the compressor lubricated you have to circulate the refrigerant on a regular basis and you CANNOt just leave the air off and forget about itfor an entire winter. (Remember there is 2 or 3 oz of special oil mixed in with the refrigerant - to lubricate the components.)
