A/C Problem w/pics

ok next project is getting my A/C to function properly I really had no way of explaining this problem so I decided to add pictures and give my steps on how it acts visually. Ok first is this...



Pressed the ECON button cause its better on gas plus pressing the A/C button has the same effect but instead of the RPM's going down and back to idle it just stays down which you will see in a moment. Also you can notice that my lights on the A/C unit is not working, well they come in and out if I tap the side of box which also gets my A/C working as well... I think this A/C unit is going bad or needs cleaning where the connectors are or the unit.



This is the car at idle with the A/C compressor not kicked in. An yes my idle is a little low but really haven't nailed that problem yet either.




Finally when it does kick on I get this and this will never change even if the car gets warmed up or not. The RPM's drop and go back to idle and drop and continues like that. Also the check engine light isn't on, its just a sun light reflection. Also if i need to replace my A/C unit well I tryed the U pull it and I had no idea that my A/C unit would be the odd one from all the other Gen 2 types.

The Idle up solenoid needs to be replaced. It is in the engine compartment on the firewall next to the windshield wiper motor. It has two vacuum lines going to it from the intake. Either the diaphragm in it is busted or the solenoid itself is not activating.

As for your A/C control it is standard for LE models, you will just have to limit your search to them. However you can take your electronic HVAC controller out and re-solder the contact points on the PCB, many times that will take care of the problems you mention.

sweet!!! that seems like a easy fix from the sounds of it mate. I will have to try that.
