Australia Celica Tranny

hi all,

i can now get my hands on a Celica 3s-fe manual transmission. Now i wish to swap this in place of my stock standard-worn as s**t 5 speed tranny. Is it a DIRECT bolt on in place of the other one or is there some mounts that need to be fabricated and such.

The guy im getting this off is my uncles neighbor, he is swapping his engine into this better condition Celica but he says i can have his tranny which has been recently reconditioned, i was like yay

And while im there is there any other bolt over parts, im not sure on the year but it has the 3s-fe engine.

Thank you.

Its a bolt-in. The only difference is the final drive.

With the higher final drive, you will have more power to the wheels in every gear and lower gas mileage. If you are into performance, you will probably like it.

It should be really noticable.

From what I remember:
My old '90 5-speed was at 3krpm at around 80mph
My friends old 5-speed '89 Celica GT was at 3krpm around 60mph

That's 25% more power at the wheels at any given speed... (and probably 20% worse gas mileage!!)

I really don't like cruising over 3krpm (as that's what I got used to in my old 5-speed DX and my WRX), but my swapped Camry and the 'new' Alltrac cruise higher so I am getting used to it.

If you don't have a loud exhaust, it shouldn't be too annoying.
