car won't start

I just charged the battery and the security system is working normally and all the accesories work but when i turn the key i get no ignition. the starter motor won't even turn and the radiator fans don't spin.

can someone tell me some ideas on what might be wrong. I have no idea where to start when its an electronic problem.

its sooo frustrating because i just fixed all the other problems my car was having and now it won't start. grrrr!!!

I would put my money on that "security system" of yours. Did you specifically mention it in your post because there was a problem with it? And how do you know it's functioning normally? If it's a full-blown alarm system, it may be cutting-off either fuel or spark to prevent the engine being started and the car stolen.

The other possibility is the starter...either a loose/disconnected lead, or the starter unit itself is shot. Do you have a spare (used) one kicking around the house? It would be a far easier fix than that security system...they can get ugly.

What year and engine Camry is this?

Give us a longer list. What items do come on and don't come on when you turn the key to start and to accessory? I don't believe that the fan should come on until the engine warms up to operating temp. Not sure, but that's what I remember.

With the engine off and the key on accessory does the Check Engine Light come on along with the other idiot lights?

Have you cleaned and tightened your battery cables at the batter terminals and the starter? Can you recruit someone to turn the key while you check the voltage at the starter solenoid?

In the past, if the security system actuated and didn't let the car start did it disable the starter like is happening now?

This sounds like a starter problem to me. You can check to see if current is getting to the positive terminal of the starter with a 12 volt test light when the key is turned, or you can give the starter a good rap with a small hammer or a wrench. If that makes the starter turn, you probably have bad contacts inside the starter's solenoid. If that's the case, do a search on this forum for "starter contacts" and read up on the problem and the repair options.
