1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
All was going well untill I had tranny failure. Now I'm in the process of tearing down an E150F (according to the Celica FSM that's the All-trac tranny) to use those internals in my E52. So far I have the E150F torn apart. Now I have to drop the E52 from my camry to start to make some magic happen.
In other news I have a digital dash now installed in the car. S2000's can bite the big one now. HAHAHAHA!
Just incase anyone cares to know how the other 3SGTE camry's are doing.

Here's my camry ^
Current: B+G Springs, KYB GR2 Struts, Erebuni Bodykit(uninstalled), 3SGTE/E52 swap, Crane HI-6S Ignition Box, Crane Timing Retard Controller.
Plans: Here
If you can check all the clearances and backlash and stuff while you are in there. Also consider new synchros if that is in your budget (maybe the later, better ones? not sure if they are compatible). You can also swap the ring gear and the associated gear on the layshaft to change your final drive if you want. All the internals aside from the diff should be compatible.
Did you have any trouble with getting the plate between 5th gear and the main case off (with the torx bolts?). I hear that is the hardest part... (heat is your friend! it's red locktite!)
Good luck with the project!

To tell you the truth. Those torx bolts were pulled pretty damn easy. The real pain in the ass was getting my gear puller to fit around 5th. I bought an $80 gear puller from sears and pretty much had to mess up the jaws to get it to fit. But all is well. Everything came apart pretty decently after that. Hopefully I can drop the E52 monday and find out what went wrong by wednesday. I more than likely wont be doing new synchros right now because I just need to get this car back on the road asap. In the future when I tear it down again to do an LSD I'll be going all out with new pieces. I need to find gear ratios for these two trannies though because I want longer gears for better gas mileage. When i make more power in the future I'll use that to compensate for the long gearing. I have both shop manuals for the trannies but I'm not sure which tolerances to use. The all-trac ones or the E52 ones. I was going to go with the E52 ones since I'm going to be using the E52 case.
