Door lock switch not working

Yep, when I press the buttons on the driver and passenger doors, the locks don't do anything. All I hear is a relay or something going off on the right side. Please tell me what I have to replace isn't behind the dash ..

Yup, it sounds like the problem is central (as opposed to a lock solenoid in one of the doors). Try replacing that relay under the dash--they rarely go bad on Toyotas, but it's the only thing that makes sense (aside from a fuse).

My manual drivers lock has broken off because some bad samaritan tried to jimmy my lock for me one night after work and busted the rod connecting the lock to the button. It will need to be re-welded. Also since then I have had problems with my window mechanism. It is currently up permanantly. Better than down . I've taken apart that drivers side door at least four times. The first time was the most frustrating time I've ever had with a car, as I'd never worked on window glass assemblies before and my Chilton's manual was as usual very vague as to process.
