I have a 90 Camry v6 and when i put the ac on it only goes up like 200 rpm's if that but my bro has a 91 corolla and his rpm's go up like a grand. I asked him about my car and he said there is nothing wrong thats just the way it is.

Check to make sure the VSV is getting DC power to the solenoid.

Code 51 Switch Signals. 0roblem areas: A/C Switch/Circuit, A/C amplifier, TPS Circuit, neutral star switch circuit, ECU.

there is a slight voltage coming about 1-3v. is that enough or should it be battery voltage?

When the AC is turned on it sends an electrical charge to the VSV. The VSV then opens or closes the vacuum supply to the EGR system.

The 5SFE Engine section of the on line manual shows an inspection routine on EG1-224+ and has a general system diagram on EG1-390.
