engine system warning light

Hey,
Just bought an '88 camry. Today I had driven for about 25 minutes and then parked the car, sat and listened to music for 2-3 minutes, and the engine system warning light came on, and as it came on the car sounded like it died a bit, even tho it was still running, so i turned the car off right away and read the manual and it said it was an electrical problem and to bring it in right away. My dashboard lights are fading (dark on the left and gets brighter to the right side). The heater from time to time won't shoot out hot/warm air when I have it on hot. The attena makes noise while going up, and sometimes takes awhile to go up. Sometimes I have to keep pushing the button for automatic locks to lock the car. I am getting the feeling that these are all related to the light that came on today. Please help. What could be the problem? THANKS!

pull the codes first... the ant is probbly old and needs to be replaced anyways.. it's 20 yrs old after all... some bulbs are probbly burned out and needs to be replaced on your dash... jump the E1 and T1 with a paper clip in the diag port and see what engine code you have

Thanks. I know nothing about cars though. Does this seem like a minor problem that a friend could help me with, or could it be something electrical that I need to get fixed by a mechanic?
