2nd Generation 91 Toyota Camry

Hi...I'm hoping someone can help me before my switches are torn apart. My open door warning light will not go out. It is causing? my dome light (in door position) and ignition light to stay on. I have closed all doors many times and pushed on switches to try and activate, but light remains on. Is there any "easy solution".
Thanks Lynn

First I would check each door switch to determine that they were working. Remove each in turn and do the test below.

DOOR COURTESY SWITCH INSPECTION
INSPECT DOOR COURTESY SWITCH
(a) Check that there is continuity between terminal and
switch body with the switch ON (switch pin released).
(b) Check that there is no continuity between terminal
and switch body with the switch OFF (switch pin
pushed in).
If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

While you have the switch removed, check the continuity of the wire to ground. If you have full continuity then the wire may have chaffed where it passes through the door into the car body. This would also cause the lights to come on.

i think the door switches work by grounding itself when the door's open.. so it/they must be shorting out... pull off the rubber grommet and check for play.
