I've finally completed my tranny converson from E52 to E150. Well I got done about two weeks ago but now I'm having problems with the car killing alternators. 3 in the past 3 weeks.lol Anyway just letting ya'll know the 3S cam is back out and on the hunt.

You have far, far more patience than I could ever muster. That, and my fiancée would freak if I spent that much time on a project instead of spending qt with her.

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
from me physically looking at them I don't see any thing. It looks like the shift forks are interchangable. The oil pump seems to be interchangable as well as the oil pipe. I didn't use the oil pump from the all trac tranny because I didn't feel like taking the one out of the camry bellhousing. I did use the oilpipe though because I bent the camry one when I was sliding the tranny case off. However gear ratios are different. I used alltrac gears 1-4 and R, and I kept my camry 5th because it's less of an overdrive which is a plus for 5th gear acceleration and also because I crushed the synchronizer ring on the all-trac 5th with the gear puller when I was taking it off.lol

Here is what I would recommend. Go to Toyota and find out if the shift forks in any of these trannies have different part numbers E52, E150F, and E153. If they do then I'd assume the later E-series trannies have them made out of different aluminum alloys possibly stronger ones. If no difference in part numbers then I'd say they are all equally strong. My mechanic told me that the shift forks are really the weakest part in all these trannies so if there are differences in the part numbers then maybe just buying the shift forks from the later tranny and using them in earlier ones during a rebuild should be just fine.

Sychros and shift forks are different on the later E153, E151 and E154 transmissions, if I remember right. The oil pipe might even be different (putting oil on an extra synchro or something?), I don't remember.
The guts from a '93+ year E-series transmissions are when they got better, '97+ is when they were really good. The guts should be generally interchangable.

I'm going to have to look into the guts from the 97+ cars then. My second gear synchro is grinding the way my third use to in the E52. THat took a year to break so I'm assuming I have another year before any major issues but I'm not going to beat on it as hard as I use to untill I either get the spare parts from toyota for the 97+ E-series or I get a spare tranny. What cars was it available in like a 97+ Camry V6 and Solara. Any others?

You might be able to find a very late JDM MR2 turbo transmission, but that's it.
