1983 Hatchback Questions

Hello- I read these forums regulary and you guys rock with all the tips and tricks! Anyway, I came across a 1983 hatchback that is in pristine condition. The lady has owned it all 25 years and it has 92xxx miles on it. She has towels on all the interior and all the electronics work. Automatic, sunroof and the paint is glossy.

She is wanting to sell it, but she is very sentimentally attached to it. She received it as a gift for her birthday from her late husband. So, she wants 4500 for it.

I know that seems high and also I think parts would be hard to find also.
Should I pursue this?
Any thoughts?

$4,500?!? Jesus!

I just picked up an '85 DX with 96k for $800 almost flawless, original senior owner, garaged. Also just picked up an '85 LE also almost flawless, also original senior owner, also garaged w/ 110k for $400.

$4,500 seems completely outrageous to me

Yea, that's what I kind of was thinking. I didn't know if there was some super secret hot market for these puppies. I think I'll let the price drop. alot.

Sounds like she doesn't want to sell it!

The hatchback probably does add a bit to the price, but not much. I wouldn't go over $1500 if it really is in close to perfect condition. If you do get it out of her hands somehow, take good care of it!

I'd agree. She doesn't seem to sell it.

Considering of all the care she placed into it and how it was a gift to her, she feels it worth more then it really in in terms of blue book.

Sounds like this is an LE version of the hatchback?
