Air-Flow Meter Mod

Has anybody else turned the cog in their air-flow meter a few clicks clockwise to lean out the fuel mixture? I tried mine with 3 clicks, and I seemed to lose power. 2 clicks also didn't give positive results. I have it on 1 click now and there seems to be a bit better throttle response.

I have tried this mod in the past, never to gain really much. I say dont open it, however now that you have, probably best to get a bottle of silicone, and seal it back up, or you will come upon some moisture problems.

After reading about this on the general forum I was planning to do this mod this weekend. I'll let you know then if it makes any difference. Perhaps the previous owner of your car already performed the mod on the car thats why your not feeling that much of a difference.

No, the mod definitely wasn't done already. The previous owner of my car was a 19 year old girl, and the meter was still sealed before I opened it. I don't know why it didn't work very well.

Weird. I don't know why I didn't get an improvement with anything over 1 click. Maybe I need to try it again.

Well, I preparing to change my timing belt (and water pump and belts and coolent sensor and a few other things) in my V6.

Once the car is running, I'll try the mod the following weekend and post results.

My V6 is a 5-speed, so we shall see.....
