body kit mounting

hello, im planning to make my own body kit. I was wondering how would I mount the thing on afterwards? is there pre-made holes in the frame? or should i be gluing/screwing into my existing bumper?

thanks

Well, it kinda depends on which parts you're talking about. For sideskirts, you could use the factory holes under the rockers (usually they have rubber plugs in them from Ziebart or Rustcheck). For bumpers, you'd have to improvise--like cut-out small sections under the bumper and bolt the kit directly onto the bumper sub-frame (it's metal)...

There was a guy in Scarborough who drove a Lexus (ES300, I think) and who custom-fabbed his own fiberglass kit. I used to see him at Kennedy Commons sometimes when the Yota crew was there. It looked totally amazing, and I think you've got a good idea. What kind of kit are you thinking of making?

do you happen to have any photos of the lex? I'm actually planning full kit, spoiler to start, then front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. im planning to mag-mount my spoiler (like a CB antenna), not sure about the bumpers, the skirts i was going to use the rail holes too, but mine are starting to rust out, so I might mag those too. Its time for a little jump, a 20 yr old driving an 88 just doesn't cut it for this age. anyways, I like to be different!

No, I never got any pictures... sorry. If you have a friend with an 88-91 Corolla GTS (AE92), take a look at the sideskirts on it. They bolt to the rockers, and mount-up to the wheel wells where a mud-flap would be (on the front). That just might work for you...in fact, in a pinch you might be able to fab something up using a couple of sets from an AE92. Just chop & glass together two sets.

wow. you lost me already. I dont know anyone with AE92's . May I know what are rockers? I can't really mount to the wheel well where the mudflaps would be, the screw holes are rusted through, if i move them, the screws will never go back in. by chop and glass you mean take a skit, cut it in half and extend it? I think i'm just going to do the side skirts and the spoiler, not going to do the bumpers.
