auto tranny "status lights"

Hello, I have a gen 2 camry LE, auto.
Usually when I shift into "D" or "R" etc.. the "status panel" beside the steering wheel will show me which one I'm shifted in there. Recently, the lights haven't been lighting up, and my reverse lights dont light up when I'm in reverse. Is there a way to fix this or is this a common problem between all models? I know it still works because if I'm lucky, and its the right temperature, it'll work!

edit : nvm. i get what you mean, seems like too big of a hassle for it. I think i'll consider it again.
