88 Camry Wagon Light Failure Sensor

I have a 1988 Camry Wagon, Auto, 4 cyl. with brake lights that do not work. I've checked the fuses and already replaced the stop light switch. I can tell that power is NOT getting to the light sockets so I am guessing it is the Light Failure Sensor. I've found it and Toyota wants $225 for a new one. Is there anyway to by-pass this sensor and just wire around it? Does anyone know where there is a wiring schematic that shows me which wires to connect to bypass the LFS? thanks

At the sensor:

Green/White wire is from the brake light switch (brake light 12V power)
Green/Red goes to the brake lights
Yellow is from the Gauge fuse
Yellow/Green goes to the rear light warning light on dash
Green goes to the tail light relay (tail light 12V power)
Blue/Green goes to tail lights
White/Black goes to ground

Make sure the brake and tail wires are receiving power.

You might be able to remove the sensor and reconnect the wires. Brake power to brake lights, tail light power to tail lights. Tape off the Gauge fuse and warning light wires.

Try junkyards for a lower cost replacement.

Great and thanks

You guys are great! I love the internt! With everyone's help I was able to get my problem fixed (at least so far). I love the resources available on the internet - just think, 10 years ago I would have had to pay hundreds of dollars for the dealer to fix this because I never would ahve been able to get this info, now here it is for everyone. Thanks
