Right side engine mount removal?

90 Lexus 2vz 2.5L Auto trans.
I'm needing to pull my water pump. I'm trying to get the engine mount bracket that bolts to the right side of the engine out. The one that covers the water pump. I jack the engine up..no room. I lower the engine down..no room. WTF? Am I holding my ears wrong? I picked the wrong time to quit huffin glue.

And check this out. I was initially going to pull the whole timing belt out. Idlers are squalling I think. Want to change the oil pump gasket/seals and stop those obligatory oil leaks. Anyhow. I set the crank on tdc, mark the pully and 0. Both upper cam marks are lined up, so I mark them and the belt where it is on top of each mark. Then I rotate the engine to check something out. When I try to re-align all these marks.....it won't happen. I mean the crank will line with the 0 and the cam marks will line with the marks on the belt cover..but the original marks I put on the timing belt will NOT line up no matter how many time I turn it. NORMAL? I picked the wrong time to quit smoking.

The sprockets to belt marks will never align if the belt rotated and this is the way it supposed to be. The critical marks are only sprocket-to the engine for the timing angle (same as the timing chain: the TOTAL number of the belt teeth has NOTHING to do with the gear ratio). The gear ratio is determined by the number of teeth on the crank sprocket divided by the number of teeth on the cam sprocket = ½. However the number of BELT teeth BETWEEN the cam and crank sprockets are critical to the timing PHASE. If you remove the old belt, transfer these marks to the new belt, and then align the marks you made on the sprockets with new belt marks upon installation, you will have the proper number of teeth between the timing sprockets and it will be good assurance against a jumped tooth (provided you also aligned the timing marks on the sprockets with the engine block or timing cover as well) So the critical number of teeth (CLOCKWISE direction!!) is one between rear head cam sprocket-front head cam sprocket and the front head cam sprocket- crankshaft sprocket.

uhh...ok. Bottom line, I guess, is put it back on the same way it came off. Transfer marks from old belt to new.
