Output shaft bearing replacement

My drivers side differential output shaft seal is leaking. I'm pretty sure the shaft bearing is shot (wiggles a little). My repair book doesn't cover replacing this bearing. Is that a job I can do while the tranny is in the car?

The shaft is not going into the bearing, it goes into the splined hole in the differential pinion. The axial play of 2 mm is normal.

Yup, and the seal is replacable from the outside by removing the axle.

and how about that bearing, how easy is it to change it? That's exactly what is wrong with mine.
I wouldn't mind replacing the transmission, if they were easier to find.

i think you have to drop the tranny for that... take off the diff plate and pull out the diff... use car-parts.com .. i'm sure there's one in your area

Just replace the seal. The bearing is probably fine...

Every axle I've put on a Camry has had a little play it in.
