Latest word on the Camry: the transmission is gone. It doesn't shift correctly and slams in and out of gears.
Junkyards want $350 to $450 for used transmissions with similar mileage. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the car, it has run me far more than I expected to keep on the road. The woman needs some reliable transportation so I think we'll be off shopping for a used Toyota or Honda in the near future.
I may keep the Camry around and look into finding and swapping in a transmission, but I will probably just throw it up on craigslist for $500 with full disclosure on the issues.
