Possibly scrapping my 5-speed V6

So I'm FINALLY done my undergrad degree, and my trusty old V6 has never let me down in the five years (and 180,000km) I've owned her. However, my attention to tuition bills has robbed her of much-needed maintenance infusions. By this I really mean the body work is a bloody nightmare. So...I'm not decided yet (oh the agony) but I'm seriously considering sending her off soon and doing the body on my GTS--which gets 38mpg.

IF I decide to let 'er go, what parts would you folks be interested in acquiring? Is anyone out there considering a 5-speed swap? The trany shifts fine, output bearings and seals still seem tops. I put a brand new OEM clutch in about a month ago. The car has 390,000km on it, to nobody's surprise I'm sure.

Let me know if there's anything you guys would want, and I'll take it into consideration while agonizing over this decision. If I can find a dirt cheap welder to make the rear quarters new again, I'll be keeping her a few more years...

Depending on how rusty-crusty they are, I might be interested in the shift cables and the rear trans mount (with bracket from the transmission from both). It would help out greatly once I start moving parts over to my Alltrac Camry.

Yeah, that's the option I'm considering. Except that there are no mint Camrys up here in salt counrty...I'd have to buy repair panels. Welding isn't cheap, either...

Charlie, the cables are alright (I inspected them last month when I swapped the clutch) but the rear mount is crap. It's intact, but not worth shipping you (unless you just cannot find another one).

I'll keep updating as I make my decision.

Il would probably give you scrap value for it and pick it up.

Rebuild the V6 and boost it for my 1G for next year.

How about I cut panels out of my Camry and ship them to you...

Seriously though, if you decide you want to keep it, I have decent rear quarters that I would be throwing away. Though, the drivers side rear area right behind the wheel on my 3s-gte Camry is rusted (non-repaired accident from before I bought it). I could make a business of cutting rear quarters and sending them to rust country!

If the mount isn't in good shape, I'd be happy just to get the braket on the transmission. Or both so I can fill with polyurethane...

You guys are encouraging...my decision is getting harder, not easier.

Charlie, in all seriousness, roughly how much (I mean roughly) do you think you would need to ship me those quarters? Just finding repair panels is a chore for me, so it might actually be worth it...

AstroVannin, are you aware that I live roughly a 14-hour drive from you? Ontario is a biiiiig province!

If the car's cheap enough it might be worth the flight.

Only downside is I KNOW id be into a complete rebuild to boost it to where I want to be.

I gotta be honest with you Astrovannin, it would only be worth your time and munnie if I swapped-in the spare engine I bought (out of an ES250 with 154,000km on it, believe it or not).

And if I'm going to all that effort, then I'm keeping the damned thing and slapping a small turbo on the front bank anyhow myself as I've always dreamed

Just to clarify: do you want to know how much I would sell the engine for separately? Or how much for the car with the low-mileage engine already implanted?

To answer your second question, I got the full, uncut wiring harness complete with the engine.

Let's see, I paid $500 plus tax for the sucker (um, $575 total) so I'd probably sell it for around $250. If you're seriously interested, just send me a PM.
