Problem with my 89 Camry

Today, I decided to wash my engine bay. After washing it, I also added some Lucas Oil Leak Stop. Then, the car stopped running normal. It starts with difficulty and It only runs on 1st gear then it dies when I try switch to 2nd. No engine light. It idles fine(500-750 rpm) and revs fine. Only when I start moving it stalls and rpm drop. What can it be? Thanks for your time!

get the distributor cap off and dry it out and pull the plug wires out of the head and get the water out of the holes, but around here you can just leave it apart overnite and it will dry

That's what I did. I just left it outside to dry out. We'll see tomorrow. I will check everything tomorrow if problem persists. Thanks for your help.

If you have access to an air compressor you can blow out the spark plug wells in the head. That will greatly speed up the drying process.

for future practices, don't hose off the engine bay. there are too many places water can get in and cause havoc. if you want to clean you bay, us a fine tip steam cleaner and/or engine degreaser. if you have time, do part by part and let dry overnite. if its driving fine in 1st, and dying in second, then you may have messed up the tranny. possibly water got in through some of the vacuum ports. i suggest drain and refill. good luck.
