It wouldn't make much sense to slap a turbo on a 3SFE when you can just buy a 3SGTE and swap it in...

meh, i was lookin into the whole turbo conversion. bout as much fun to turbo as stickin rockets on skates. looks cool but for the money spent a major let down. got a mate down here in tassie (that's in australia) that turbo'ed his apollo (toyota sold the camry to GM's Holden). within a week of doing it he ripped it all out and dropped a 3sge in. as far as the corner lights? most aussie camry's have em so it's best to find a reputable seller here that'll send em over to you. or ebay.

Yea i was just lookin for a lil speed boost on it not much. maybe like 30-50hp extra she's my daily driver. Know of any aussie websites that have them? I really like the aussie bumpers too, how they are much smaller than ours here.

If your car/motor is in good shape, you could get a safe 30-50hp from a turbo... or you could buy a V6 model and get the same HP bump with stock reliability (and a similar hit to gas mileage).
The Aussie corner lights will not work with your stock headlights. You would have to purchase the corner lights, headlights, grill and nose piece to get it to fit... And even at that point, you may need a new radiator support to bolt it all in...
You can, however get clear front turn signals from a '91 Camry pretty cheap on eBay.

Should be in great shape 75k orig miles. Would a turbo really drop it down to the same mpg as the 6cyl?
really? the corner lights don't match up the same?
already got clear turn signals, thinking about changing the bulbs to white too

Yes, a turbo will decrease your fuel mileage comparably to the difference you would see between 4 and 6 cylinder. It's not a huge drop, though. About 8mpg difference in city traffic...almost no difference on the highway in my experience (maybe a 2-3mpg drop).

you have to remember a comparing a 3sge to a 3sgte isn't just the turbo equation. it's a different head, pistons the lot. might be technicnally the same block but ones a performance engine. ones a daily driver. conversions are turning out to be relatively common and fairly easy (i'm comparing this to the aus standard of dropping oversized V8's in our Falcons and Commodores) so i'd go with a complete swap. you might just be surprised at the price. why don't you look at other cheaper alternatives. extracters, sports exhaust, and pod filter setup will all increase power with relatively low costs, and fuel consumption. this with a good tuning of the car will get a few more horses out of it. look at all your options.

A T3 off an older Saab. The Toyota CT26 turbo and manifold from an MR2 turbo or Celica Alltrac turbo is a better choice (overall, easier to get up and running).
