91 Camry A/C fuse location

Hi all,
I have a 91 Camry DX FWD automatic 4 cylinder w/ 137K miles. I have been working on this for about a year to get it to where it is now, a daily reliable ride (Not too big on looks/appearances).

My A/C is not working, meaning when i push the AC button the light does not come on and the magnetic clutch does not engage, so something is wrong obviously. All the AC components are there from what i can tell. I am planing to diagnose every componenet in the AC system be it electrical or mechanical, i have the tools and the skills. I also checked the high pressure side and it was 65 PSI which is too high.

I want to start out with the fuse for the A/C but i am unable to find it! Is it the 10 Amp fuse on the passenger side kick panel? if not then where is it? what are the other 2 relays that are on the passenger side kick panel?

Thanks I hope someone can answer my question as it is slowly but surely getting warmer outside.

Curiously, I haven't found an "A/C Fuse" yet. However, there are three relays in the engine compartment fuse box behind the battery for the AC. Toward the front there are two square relays together and an round relay inboard (kind of in an "L" shape). These are the fan (3), clutch and fan (2) relays. Also, there are two fusible links right at the battery post. Don't know what those are for but you might check them. The A/C button light is also a diagnostic light. When it flashes the system has a problem. Maybe when it is out there is a big problem or the maybe the light has died.

I will bench test the relays today, doesn't take a lot to do that, but as you said.
"The A/C button light is also a diagnostic light. When it flashes the system has a problem. Maybe when it is out there is a big problem or the maybe the light has died."

So, i doubt it is the relays. It must be the fuse(s) or the A/C amplifier, something fundamentally not right, that i am yet to find out. I will also look for the fusible links condition.

Thanks

OKAY, i found it. Apparently there are a lot of fuses on these cars are used for more circuits than what is displayed on the fuse panel. Meaning if the Tail light fuse blows (open circuit), one would think that only the tail lights will not work, but that is not true all the following circuits will be affected too;
Glove Box Light, Combination Meter, Rheostat, ECT Pattern Select SW Light, Rear Wiper SW Light, Cruise Control Main SW Light, Hazard SW Light, O/D Main SW Light, Rear Window Defogger SW Light, Cigarette Lighter Light, A/T Indicator Light, Radio Light, Diff. Lock Control SW Light, Center Diff. Lock Indicator Light, A/C SW Light,Heater Control SW Light,Front Clearance and Side Marker Lights, Licence Plate Lights,Rear Side Marker Lights, Light Failure Sensor, Taillights 88,Clock.

The location of the A/C switch and amplifier fuse, is a 10A fuse located in the front passenger side kick panel.

I am not claiming i know it all when it comes to Camrys, but this is my result after researching this topic. Will try it soon to confirm. i am still opened to suggestions.

I was correct about the A/C fuse and its location. Indeed it was blown, but i have to ask my self why. At this point i can only persume it blew due to the 65psi that i read on the high side. This means that A/C system was over charged causing the compressor to work harder (getting hotter) therefore blowing the fuse. I will evacuate some a134 to bring the pressure down to 45 psi before i replace the fuse and try again.

If anyone has any helpful comments i would love to hear it rather than feel lik ei am writing a diary...

Well, I am enjoying the read. I just don't have anything constructive to say.
