Found something interesting

http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/car/694777881.html

This is the FIRST Gen2 Camry I found that is listed in Honolulu, Hawaii with the Digital dash. I'm confused on the two tone paint. Is it factory or custom?

I would so buy this if i didn't have enough cars as is. The digital dash is super rare in Gen2 from what I know

well i have one if that counts into making it less rare =P the only reason i had one was because that was the only one in stock at the time.

That's the first "first" I've seen in awhile. The two-tone paint is factory, but I've never seen it in blue. I've only seen beige/dark brown, and the two-tone silver like my V6.

You can tell they've had the driver's side rear quarter re-painted, but other than that the car looks excellent. It even still has all four mud-flaps attached! SUPER rare these days...nice find.

I'll be moving to Maui in a few months and was going to ship my rust free 88 LE. Same dark blue but not a very good looking body and no two-tone. I call it a "sleeper" in that its ultra reliable having put $2000 worth of parts into my car and me doing nearly all the labor. Maybe I should reconsider and sell my car here in L.A. and just buy something over there. My thoughts were that for $1500-2000 dollars I'd be buying someone else's problems, especially rusting.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't think rust was as big an issue in the Pacific, given the lack of salty winters...though I'm led to believe that sea air can affect oxidization rates...

Heh...

Yep...it sure does. Besides that it can rain here often, so the air is always moist. Old toyota down at the shores (north shore for examples) are rust buckets.
