About a year ago, I wrote about the exhaust manifold gasket replacement, complicated by rusted fasteners.The procedure took about an hour, but the preparation of the fasteners for removal by applying PB-blasted began 4 days earlier.

that's a good pick. do you think anti size would have helped on the bolts before they were put it to begin with? I know on the exhaust manifold most of it is going to burn away but im inclined to think enough of it would be left behind to keep them from seizing into the aluminum

I used regular grade antiseize on the studs but only on the part where the nut goes.
On pre-83 models Toyota used washers under exhaust manifold nuts, making them a lot easier to be removed and decreasing chance for studs to break off due to uneven tightening.
