140E Tranny Swap - Tranx fluid question...

Hello all,

Just finished a tranny swap on my '87 Camry. Put a '91 A140E back in. Does the transaxle use the same fluid as the transmission? If I fill up the transmission and it reads full on the stick does that reading mean the transaxle is also full?

I question because there are two separaate drain plugs.

Appreciate any help.

Respectfully,

DJ

My 90 camry 3SFE engine had a separate drain and fill for the differential. Is that the same as a transaxle? I believe that both fill and drain used a 10 mm allen wrench and it took about a 1/2 quart of the same transmission fluid that the auto transmission used. The main caution that I can give is to loosen the fill port first. That way you're certain that you are able to refill the differential before you drain it!
