'89 Camry Electrical Problems

Hi, I recently have had troubles involving the tail lights in my Camry.

I think its either a shortage in the wire or a loose wire.

The other day I was driving at night and realized my dashboard lights were not working, I didn't pay much attention to it until I got stopped by a cop who told me my tailights were not working.

I tried for several hours to fix them but to no avail.

Then, a few days later they started working again but, once again, after a few more days they turned off once again.

This makes me think that it may be either a wire shortage or a loose wire, does anybody know how I can check if this is the case or does anybody have any ideas on what else might be the problem?

Thanks

To begin trouble-shooting, remove the carpet and plasticy-fabric trim from the driver's side of the trunk. Inspect the wiring loom where it runs along the floor of the trunk area. If you find no problems, start following the harness forwards through the passenger compartment (it runs along the driver's side of the cabin, just under the carpet after you remove the plastic door sill trim.

My guess is that eventually you'll find a break in the wiring jacket or some nasty corrosion.
