You can run the motor directly with 12v to see if it works. If it does... Carefully cut the wire harness open between the door frame and the car. It's the black accordion looking thing. Inspect all the wires inside for a broken one. My window did the same thing and that is how I fixed it. If you find it, fix it and tape the rubber back up around it.

If you have a multi-meter I would check for voltage and ground at the big plug that goes into the master switch. Since all of the other functions are working (correct?) I would expect the problem to be with the switch, the wiring to the motor, the motor or the regulator (though you probably would have heard the motor running by now). Mine had a wierd problem with the contacts wearing down. I was able to sand down the two tabs on the back of the plastic switch itself to allow more "lift". That was enough to let the contacts close and the switch worked again.

If the other three windows work off the switch then it's not likely to be the switch

Hmmm.... that's a good question. Start with the wireloom in the door and then proceed to the motor. Checking the wire loom between the door and the car won't cost you anything as opposed to the motor if it gets screwed up or paying someone else to fix it if you cant.

Yes, if you reverse the polarity to the two motor terminals it will turn the other way.

You might want to read Dr. J's reply to a similar question at:
Master Window Switch Problem

Doing a search for "master switch" both here and on the gen 3/4 forum should also be helpful.
