Replacing Flashing Relay in Sv22

Hi guys,
I am trying to replace the flashing relay that controls the indicator. I went to a local auto parts center in australia and asked for a flashing relay. The manager then looked it up on the computer according to the model of my car and sold me a flashing relay that would fit... I get home look for the relay above the fuse box, pull it out... and it turns out that the + - prongs are closer together than the relay i bought. How can this be right? I must be doing something wrong...

I have read the back of the box and it says that it will fit camrys 1988-1992...
My car is a Toyota Camry sv22 (australia model) 1990

It is possible the parts store gave you the wrong part. Are you sure you pulled the right relay out?

Take the new part and non-working part back to the store. Do some more checking and compare parts.

The back of the box fits the make and model of my car... Are there any diagrams available that can show me whether i am taking the right relay out?

You are not doing anything wrong...I had the same problem..thought my flasher was bad, took it out, brought it to three different auto parts stores here in the San Francisco area....all of them had the same problem...the pins were not the same as the original factory part...either the aftermarket parts mfgs have some other pin configs and havent corrected it....I found out it wasnt my flasher module after all and just put it back....you might want to try a junk yard or last resort the dealer!

You can always test it by putting 12v to the center pin and the others pins should pulse.

The reason i thought it was the relay was because my indicator would sometimes not work. It's been gradually getting worse. I assumed it was the relay switch...

Hi everyone, i just rang the dealer and first they wanted $504 for some kind of kit. Then i told them only wanted the relay itself, and they wanted $104 AUS. I'm not paying that much. i paid $24 for an aftermarket one.
