Arrow Buying a 90' Camry DX

I went to look at a 1990 Camry DX yesterday with 153,000 miles. It has a few spots of rust, and large dents which are the least of my problems because i have a buddy that works at a body shop who will fix those right away. Everything works fine, and the car was babied when it was run. It also had only has 1 owner, and the previous owner bought it in 1989 when it was new. He still has the original stamped keys and tags. The interior is super clean, an the owner replaced the brakes, windshield wipers, recharged the AC, and replaced the front left highbeam.

We were at this guys house for about an hour, and he had it running the whole time and it sounded fine.

Any remarks, or advice about this car?

Oh, and if im going to buy Rota's for it, what size do you guys think?

If it is a steal, get it. You can fix most anything if you want. If it is a good value, be a little more cautious and check the fluids, look at the rubber bushings in the suspension, etc. If you can, try to find out the transmission maintenance history and the like. All in all they are great cars. I had one for 350,000 miles until a lady side swiped me. I still keep my eye out for a replacement.

Yea the guy wants 1,200 for it, and i have the cash. The guy who has it now has to to ask the original owner (the guy who has it now is the original owners nephew) about the maintenance history and the timing belt.Other then that.. I stora like the deal.

The guy who drove it was 60 when he bought it in 1989.. so it was a 'sunday driver' kinda car if you get my drift.

Although im not too keen on the car seeing as when i sat in it my legs were against the steering wheel. (im 6'4") lol.
