like said. check for oil / coolant leaks. regular maintence. check the boots, if they're cracked the joints probably have issues as well. umm.. rust around the wheel wells. the a/c you wont be able to recharge due to CFC issues, it'll need replacing but mine in 20 years is still cold. and check shocks. so nothing major, just general good car buying practices.

I just got my A/C recharged a week ago. No problems with CFC.

Check oil color. Not changing the oil for any car = sludge. The engine 2VZ-FE is a great engine and you shouldn't have any problem. The 2VZ-FE was also used in the Lexus ES250.

Also check for CV boots and other things. Check for rust around the trunk (open the trunk and check the weather seal) and check the both the sides of the trunk (under the carpet) for water to see if there's any water.

Rust is a thing for these things. Most times these cars are in the junkers because of lack of maintaince or rust. Gotta love the Gen2s
