'89 2vz-fe camry rear main seal
Hi,
My '89 v6 2vz-fe camry has started to lose a lot of oil from the rear main seal - the distributor is pretty dry (no significant oil leak as the o-ring was recently changed) and the rear rocker is dry, so the usual culprits are accounted for.
I have a couple of questions regarding this repair:
- where is the best place to jack the car and have access to all the required components? I'm assuming that I can get away with axle stands and a trolley jack (which will presumably be required to drop the auto transmission)
- After removing the driveshafts, does the auto box simply unbolt? What do I have to strip off the box to drop it out of the car? (presumably speedo cable etc). I'm totally unfamiliar with automatics. Does the torque-converter etc come out attached to the box or stay attached to the driveplate on the engine block?
Anything else I should look to change whilst I am in there apart from the driveshaft seals + rear main seal??
Any hints/tips/suggestions appreciated!
TIA
Matt
