power window motor story

..my driver window stopped functioning the other day[it was stuck upward thank God!!]...i thought it was the master power switch ,so i removed and disassembled /cleaned the contacts but still wouldnt control the drivers window...i removed the door panel and found the electrical connector for the window motor..i connected hot/ground jumper wires directly to the motor but still nothing...i got out my multimeter and checked the motor for continuity and it was open...i called around and found a rebuilt motor for 58.00 and installed...works like 1991!!

Did your motor have cables that help torque and run the motor? Our Celica does and it appears the motor 'ate' the cables and ours is stuck DOWN! Didn't know if it was possible to open the motor and save the cables.

How difficult was to replace the motor? What did you have to remove in order to pull it out?
Thanks

Not exactly sure, my brother did this for me. But I'm pretty sure you have to remove the regulator and motor to make a repair on either piece. On our Celica it has a good size opening where he was able to pull the assembly through after removing all the bolts. From what my brother said it wasn't too hard at all.
