Laugh at my speakers.

Heres to 18 year old OEM speakers, sun-baked 5 1/4 inch stock sound.

Both speakers are Hoorible. The one on the right has no outer ring left, dunno where it went, lol. And the left most ones outer ring has various cracks and even though almost all of the outer ring is intact unlike the other, it is the worst sounding one.

Well, we cant all be winners.

drop some 6.5 inchers in there. It can be done, you just have to hack the metal part that is the basket of the stock speaker, keeping the outer square portion. I did that to my 89 back in probably 1999 or so.

lol. That reminds me of my Cressida.

Oddly, the rear speakers were fine, just that they didn't have any real high hitting notes. They were just baked. The front in the dash were ... well ... dead. The rubber foam around was gone. I doubt the sun could have gotten to them...so how did they die? I would expect the ones in the rear to go out, but the front did instead.

Thats what my rears look like. Wasnt too smart of toyta? Couldnt they throw them under the rear seats? Or in the rear doors? Or something that wasnt going to be exposed constantly to direct sunlight.

Thats what I was thinking. Oddly, my '85 Camry front were perfectly fine. The back were OK, just that the foam around the speaker...well it wasn't exactly foam, but like a plastic/frabic materal was intact, just that the glue holding the surrounding materal to the paper cone of the speaker just came off. If i simply reglued it, it would have been fine.
