Canada Problem With Hotter than ambient temp air blowing into cab, NOT A/C related.

HI, Newb here.

I have been searching the forums, but all threads are only related to the A/C unit. So, here I go.....

When I turn the fan on, A/C turned off or on, the temp control set to cold, I have hotter than ambient temperature blowing into the cab. Any ideas what it might be, or where I should start troubleshooting?

Thanks guys.

When you move the lever from hot to cold...make sure the cable is actually moving something...the door that closes off the hot air must not be closing...

I am pretty sure that the blend doors are controlled by the AC control and the location control. The coolant flow (whether to heat, ac or nothing at all) is controlled by a valve operated by a wire connected to the temperature control. Look just behind the firewall in the engine compartment where the heater hoses pass into the passenger compartment. On one of them you will probably see a plastic looking (mine is round) valve. If that isn't closing completely you will be getting some coolant being allowed into the heater exchange in the cabin and, therefore, heat.

I'm not sure how a mal functioning blend door would affect the situation. Also, if you have outside air coming in it passes over the heater exchange and pass more heat into the cabin until you are able to shut off the coolant so it may be better to shut this off until you fix the other problem.

Heh i have the same problem. The AC worked before i got the car, and i went to use the AC for the first time 2 weeks after i got the car, and no matter what setting the heat is in AC or not, hot air just comes blarring out and its annoying the piss outta me cause it was cold once.

Either the freon or w/e is escaping through a slow leak? or i have the problem listed above, maybe ill check it 2m.

With the a/c on can you hear the compressor kick in? If not it's either too low on freon or the compressor is not functioning. If it's not kicking in then try to jump it from the positive battery terminal to see if it works. If it does then you're low on freon or something is stuck closed. If it doesn't work then that's part of your problem.
