Brake Lights dont turn on

Hi everyone I'm new here and have a slight prob hope you guys can help me out.
I recently got pulled over by the police for not having brake lights which I didn't even know were broken haha anyways today I ripped out the back wiring to check for any broken or cracked wires checked the yellow relay box thing and it's fine did a volt test and the wires have power so that leads me to believe that the problem is the stoplight switch in the front of the car the only problem I'm having is I have no clue where this thing is or how I find it better yet I've never seen one before, so if anyone could give me some direction or pictures that would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance

Jay

Edit: Forgot to tell everyone the model it's a 1987 Camry thanks

So wait, the brake lights don't go on when you press the brakes?

Theres a brake light switch/button located by the brake pedal under the dash. Try see if its working.

Manual or Automatic? If it's an automatic it may very well be the Neutral Safety Switch. Do a search for my post on removing and replacing the Neutral Safety Switch. Not a difficult job and a world of difference.

good try, Darling...but the brake lights don't go through Neutral Safety switch like the reverse lights do...check the plunger type switch above the brake pedal called the stop light switch..that's the part that goes out all the time...cheap and easy to replace!
