Best BRAND of thermostat?

1--Is there a Best Brand of thermostat? Stant or Failsafe or ????

2--I can't find one in town with a "jiggle vent" like was on there--is it necessary? Will it work just as well to drill a small hole in new thermostat in same location?

Thanks

Sometimes buying a good old Toyota brand t-stat from the dealer is the best way to insure quality. I've been surprised how good some of the prices are... generally no more than 25% over aftermarket.

If only that were true here. About 300% more here. Was just wondering if it could really be worth the difference.
