Ok folks, I've been reading and lurking for some time now. Found lots of good information. I even pulled the spark plugs tubes, cleaned them and reinstalled thanks to this forum. For me, to accomplish this, is a big deal for me! I am generally not mechanically minded.

Anyway, couldn't figure out why my '88 Toyota Wagon DL 210k Mi, 2.0 L engines keeps missing. I initially thought it was oil creeping into the spark plugs tubes, which indeed it was doing this. After, doing the spark plug tubes, replacing rubber grommets, I still had problems with the engine missing, stammering. I finally took it to my mechanic had him check compression and looks like the #2 cylinder is shot, pressure about 30#'s. Rings shot he says. 'Bout $500 to fix maybe more. Well, I just spent $1000.00+for brakes, windshield replacement and new tires within the 4 months.

So I need your fine advice> Keep the car & fix it, lets say another $750.00 to fix all cylinders (rings), or junk it ( I hate to do this!), and get $250.00 or eBay it? I am hoping to get more than $250.00 out of her if even possible. She's been a gr8 car, still looks good, (to my eyes), a few dents here and there, NO rust, a former desert car (NM), now in Oklahoma. The transmission is strong, A/C blows cold, some rattling from compressor bearing. I'd love to find another T-wagon like a 96, last yr made. Don't have much money so will love to get your input/advice. Mac

I would get a good used engine installed for a 1000 and get another good 10 years out of it. But thats just me. Since the car seems to be strong otherwise that is a good way to go.
