Pop A Lock with a slim Jim

I left my keyes in my car today XD I am at work right now, and luckily already have a slim Jim. I am not too good at it, how is this done? Last time, I adjusted the slim jim sideways and it just popped it. I didn't know what I was doing though, so it took hours to figure it out. Can anyone explain to me what I need to do?

Well, I certainly hope you got your keys out by now. Newer cars are very different than old ones, which used to be easy to pop. It's very difficult to slim-jim most newer cars.

I did the same thing last summer. I tried my driver's door and couldn't get it, so I went to the passenger side. While I was poking around with the slim-jim, I hit an electrical contact and my locks popped open. That was great, but now my key won't unlock the passenger side door. It's like the key is a switch rather than a mechanical linkage.
