Replacing Master Brake Cylinder

I haven't found any threads for this yet. I have a 1991 Camry with 209,000 miles on it. It runs like new. The brake master cylinder is original with no rebuild or replacement yet. I am sure I will have to replace it soon and I have replaced many on my other cars before. It calls for a special tool to adjust the booster pushrod clearance. I can't find it anywhere. Is there a substitute for this tool or another way to check pushrod clearance? Many thanks.

A piece of rod and straight edge will work too, but you do need to know how to do it, and what you are checking. See if you can get a copy of the FSM.

Unless you're having a specific problem with the brakes, don't put too much time and worry into potential/future failures of parts. The master on my 90 V6 is original, with 395,000km on it, and it's still A1.

Thanks for the info guys. I cant believe how well this car runs with so many miles on it. I have had it stolen twice, but it weathered it well. I have a small leak at the tranny axle right now, but it doesnt require much fluid to refill... yet. This car is great! It should go another 100K.

For future reference you download the generation 2 Camry factory service manual over at the Camry forum on AutomotiveForums.com. They are stickied at the top of that forum.
