According to recall information, this is the new design of the front lap belt guide.

Initially I thought that mine is the original "defective" design, however according to alldata , this is what should be installed.

I've seen those on a car at the junkyard, they looked different than mine so I didnt get them. They were even the right color too...
guess I know where to go back to get the new seat belt guide.

Is this for a 1st gen or 2nd? My 2nd gen camry doesn't look like that. It bolts onto the chassis, not the seat. Does it need replacing immediately if it;s not like that? Both driver and passenger?

Trust me, you DON'T want the auto seatbelts... They are quite annoying.

Then again, I wonder what the reason for the change/upgrade is... I've been through one horrible accident in a gen2 and survived just fine, and I don't see how changing a bit of plastic there would have changed anything.

The main reason for this to make the belt buckle easier to grab [the ergonomic issue]
