1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Actually, I think the Camrys have the same set-up as the Corollas of the same vintage--and the delay is actually built right in to the wiper motor assembly. So is the "return" function (that allows the arms to return even if you turn the wiper off in mid-arc).
HomeGrown, update me on this one when you find-out for sure. I'm curious, considering my gen2 is so old and so used. It'll probably start acting-up any time now.

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
I too, am wondering where the delay and return functions are located. My Gen2 Camry IS acting up... No return or delay. I've read elsewhere that it's located in the combination switch, but I don't want to sink the money into a switch without knowing! Did the wiring diagram indicate the location of this circuitry?
Page 98. Looks like the relay is in the switch, although the motor might need the connections to it also. I'm wondering if I can take the ES250 stalk assembly to get the selectable interval system like the newer cars.
1990 Camry motor was replaced on mine and did not solve the delay and reset problems. The delay/reset function must be in the switch or wiring, not the motor. However, the new (rebuilt) motor is a bit slower and less violent at full speed than the original one......which is better. T.C. Bear
