The more I look at the situation the more confused I get. The inner joint looks dry, except for a thin coating of oil. The Toyota manual, in bold print, does say do not compress the inboard boot. Therefore I presumed the boot should be packed with grease. I carefully squeezed it & figured I would start seeing some grease appear at the exposed end. But I did not. It just makes me wonder how much grease is in the boot. Or maybe its all settled at the small end.
I doubt you can ever get any grease into the boot through the inner end, so I'm presuming the boot does have grease. But I still have to pack grease to the center drive shaft as per the online Toyota manual, or to the open end inner end of the half shaft. The upper picture in the manual on page FA-39 could be the half shaft or the center drive shaft. Hard to tell. But the description does say center drive shaft. Is there actually room there for grease?
Where did you actually pack grease into?
