vibration

I drove an es250 I was looking at and decided against buying it because the CV boots were cracked. It had a vibration consistent with wheel speed that I could only assume was the CV joint. But I drove it while turning the wheel and just couldn't get that characteristic clicking noise that every bad CV joint makes. Could it have been something else that was wrong like a bad tire? It felt like a tire was going over a rock, even at 10mph going straight.
It's a shame because it was a nice car except for the body damage.

I could be that the boots cracked fairly recently, so only a bit of dirt has got inside it and only some grease has come out?

Speed related vibration is indication of bend wheel rim, badly damaged [broken cooling fin] brake rotor or worn hub bearing.

She did mention the brake rotor got scored or something after wearing down the pads too far.
Wheel bearings sound plausible because the tires looked new.

thanks dudes.
