2nd Generation Yet Another Thread About Body Work...sorry

Alright, so I thought I'd give it one last try...has anyone managed to replace (ie: weld) the whole rear quarter panel or panels on their second gen? The rust on my V6 is now so bad that actual chunks have dropped-off the rear wheel arches. I have no qualms about paying for welding, but I cannot seem to find proper repair panels (NOT just the wheel arches, but the repair panels that include approx 5" of metal around the arch).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd prefer to order from the States and pay shipping, it'll still be much less than ordering within Canada... thanks in advance if anyone has new info. My last thread (last year?) wasn't fruitful.

What do you mean by proper repair panels?

If you fix a rust hole by welding in a new plate, you buy a sheet of metal and cut it down to shape

Hey Tim, check this place. I did a Google search for rust repair panels and found this:
http://www.rustrepair.com/BODY_PANEL...OYOTA-CAMRY.87

They're located in Ohio. They list the same P/N as fitting 87-91 Camry AND 89-92 Cressida?

Better than JCWhitney, which listed the SAME P/N for 83-96 Camry.
I haven't figured out how THAT works....

Here's a pic of the panel. Price seems pretty decent, too. $38.50

EDIT: just noticed this LH panel doesn't show a cutout for the gas door.

That, my friend, is EXACTLY what I was looking for...yet somehow I couldn't find them even after exhaustive Google searches!

The price is roughly $100 less than the price here in town, as I had expected. Bill, you are a life-saver.

As for bending sheet metal, Jimnist, I urge you to look at the complexity of that panel (where it wraps around the wheel well) and you'll see why I would never bother trying to mimic it by hand bending.

Don't beat yourself up, it's your metric version of Google you have up there.
I found out about that when I was up there for awhile last year working at the Cambridge plant.

As chance would have it, these panels have just appeared on eBay for the first time in a LONG time...making my thread even more redundant. If anyone else needs them, this is a pretty good deal:

Wow, $90 BIN price.
Only $38.50 on the website I linked to, and they only add $1.50 handling charge to the actual shipping cost. Unfortunately you can't calculate shipping cost on their website. Evidently the 7 year old that programmed the site didn't know how to add that feature in.

EDIT: Just noticed that $90 price includes BOTH sides. Maybe not such a bad deal at all.
